Too Afraid To Ask

What does ‘YORD’ mean?
The word ‘YORD’ might have several meanings but the truth is, we found an island named Yord while browsing Superman’s home planet of Krypton. Not sure how to explain that, let’s just say that browsing maps in Comics is one of our favorite past times. Yord also means supernatural or superior intelligence. As it is our mission to make reality better through giving people real superpowers, we cannot be more in love with the name we chose.

What exactly is Virtual Reality?
Put simply, virtual reality (VR) is a simulated experience that immerses the user in a completely virtual environment via some form of device (i.e. VR headset or helmet). Often, a person can also interact with objects in the virtual space, which enhances the experience.

What are some examples of virtual reality?
VR has applications in almost every field and industry. From pilots and doctors training with VR headsets and everyday users playing immersive games like BeatSaber, to fashion brands and automotive companies creating entirely immersive showrooms, virtual reality is everywhere nowadays. Whether you like it or not, VR is here to stay.

What is the difference between VR and AR?
Virtual reality (VR) is the complete immersion into a simulated environment via a headset. In contrast, augmented reality (AR) is an enhanced version of the physical world that can be achieved with a pair of AR glasses or even your phone (think: Pokemon GO). Just remember: if you can see elements of the physical world, it’s AR. If everything around you is digital, you’re in VR. Simple!

Which is better: VR or AR?
We get asked this question a lot and there really isn’t a simple answer. AR and VR both have great applications in every industry, but some projects are better suited to one rather than the other. Factors to consider are cost, accessibility and application. Don’t know where to start? That’s where we come in. Contact us today!

What is a Virtual Showroom?
Virtual Showrooms are immersive spaces that allow consumers to interact and engage with products, environments and avatars. These 3-D rendered spaces are tailor-made to your brand and can include external links to e-shops, downloadable content and complex design elements. This is one of our most popular services right now and one that we believe has a simple and direct application in a variety of industries. Find out more here.
