VR City Experience • YORD

Interactive glimpse into the past thought Virtual Reality.

Project
We embarked on a unique journey to breathe life into history with our VR Time-Travel Experience. Users can wear a VR headset and be instantly transported to the city’s streets, buildings, and alleys as it looked in days. Whether it’s a bustling marketplace from a century ago or ancient architectural wonders this immersive experience is like a living museum where every corner has a story.

The brief
Our vision was driven by the belief that history is not just about dates and events but about people, places, and experiences. While textbooks and lectures provide a wealth of knowledge, more is needed to replace the feeling of ‘being there’. With this experience, users can walk in the footsteps of those who came before us, hear the echoes of their conversations, and genuinely appreciate the transformations that have shaped our present-day cities.

Goal

Create a uniquely immersive experience.

Dive into the past in a second with Virtual Reality.

Challenge

One of the main challenges of our project was ensuring historical accuracy in our VR portrayals to prevent misrepresentation, meeting technical constraints for high-quality graphics accessible to average users, ensuring a comfortable user experience without VR-induced discomfort, scaling content to cover vast historical events, providing meaningful interactivity within the historical setting, maintaining a consistent narrative for user guidance, and handling potentially sensitive historical content with utmost care.

Solution

We developed scalable VR content suitable for lower-capability devices, conducted regular user tests to refine the experience based on feedback, adopted a modular development strategy to focus on pivotal historical moments, incorporated game-like features for enhanced engagement, offered narrated guided tours for a comprehensive VR journey, and established a feedback system to ensure respectful and accurate historical representations.
