The second episode of the Beyond Reality Podcast brings us a fascinating story of creativity, courage, and innovation with guest Jakub Bechyně. A visionary entrepreneur and cultural innovator, Jakub has reshaped the way we experience museums by blending storytelling, art, and technology into unforgettable visitor journeys. From graffiti to immersive museums, his path is a masterclass in fearless creativity.

Jakub’s story from Sports to Tech and Museums
Jakub’s path begins in sports, being a passionate basketball and volleyball player. He studied in the United States during high school, developing the energy and the self-reliance that would later define his career. Returning to the Czech Republic, he dabbled in graffiti, which served as a creative bridge to his work in production and visual storytelling.
His creativity soon led him to a startup that furnished global retail spaces for brands like Adidas and Nike, until – by 31 – he decided it was time to try something on his own. He co-founded a studio focused on large murals, which unexpectedly evolved into light art, a unique medium that uses phosphorescent canvases and flashlights to tell layered, animated stories. This unique artistic approach took him around the world, setting the stage for his next big leap: innovative museums.

Building Museums for the Social Media Generation
Jakub’s dive into museums started with the Illusion Art Museum in Prague, a wildly popular space born from a fast-moving, high-risk opportunity. With just two months to develop a concept, Jakub repurposed an existing exhibition and turned it into a permanent experience blending illusion art with Czech cultural themes. Soon after, TV crews and tourists from across Europe were flocking to it.
The museum’s early goal was to create fun, social media friendly art that also taught meaningful messages. “People are their own journalists now, we wanted to create content worth sharing and learning from”, explained Jakub.
The Future of Museums according to Jakub Bechina
Jakub’s next challenge brought museum experiences even further. The Amadeus Mozart Interactive Museum immerses visitors in Mozart’s life using advanced technology. From musical baby cradles to AR symphony experiences, guests walk through Mozart’s world and literally become him thanks to features like an AI photo booth and a virtual conductor VR experience.
The museum design responds to modern attention spans with interactive, first-person storytelling where visitors can touch, play, and share every part of the journey, setting new standards for experiential learning.
Storytelling is at the very heart of Jakub’s work, believing that every museum needs a narrative thread, much like a great movie. Between highs and lows, Bechina built a completely new environment for digital content growth, bringing museum experiences to new extents.
